PARRANG SABIL (WAR FOR MARTYRDOM)
IS AGAIN ON THE RISE!

BMNews, Jolo, Sulu - Parrang Sabil or 'war for martyrdom' is back in Moroland to haunt the present colonial Filipino invaders in Mindanao. In the island of Lupah Sug (Sulu), particularly in Talipao town, around fifty Tausug spiritual warriors known as 'Awliya' freedom fighters headed by Hatib Zakaria staged a martyrdom attack on the camp of the colonial Filipino Marine occupation forces before dawn of September 24, killing two soldiers and injuring several others. The term 'Awliya' is referred to the 'saints' or helpers/supporters of Allah in preserving and propagating Islam religion. It is now seen that parrang sabil ('huramentado' to the piratical Spanish colonizers in the earliest period) has resurrected to remind the Christian Filipino military colonialists that they are never welcomed in the Bangsamoro homeland similarly like the Spanish and American invaders in the past.

The spokesman of the regional command of the colonial Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, issued out an unconfirmed report that the Filipino occupation Marine troops repulsed the unexpected attack by the Moro spiritual warriors and recovered thirteen bodies of the Muslim raiders. He also reported that the attackers belonged to a 'radical organization' with links to the Abu Sayyaf group. As usual, the Philippine military colonizers have again used the Abu Sayyaf tag as convenient excuse to discredit any struggle of the oppressed Bangsamoro people for freedom from Philippine colonialism.

However, it is common knowledge in war-torn Mindanao that the Abu Sayyaf group was created by AFP ex-Generals Aguirre and Ruiz, according to former Senator Aquilino Pimintel, Jr. It was

PARRANG SABIL (WAR FOR MARTYRDOM) IN MOROLAND: The Tausug spiritual warriors of Sulu fearlessly battling the American invaders to gain martyrdom for the sake of Jihad Fi-Sabilillah. Such was the historical epic 'Battle of Bud Bagsak' in Jolo, Sulu, Mindanao, in June 11-15, 1913

revealed that the Abu Sayyaf was created to neutralize the MNLF and to create chaos in Mindanao through kidnap for ransom activities to discredit the Muslims in the area. The Mindanao kidnapping spree, using AFP-patronized Abu Sayyaf elements, have also served as fast extra-income formula for Filipino military officers. Also using the Mindanao war as a profitable business venture that could easily attract supplementary budget for the AFP in waging war against the Bangsamoro freedom fighters, the strategic creation of the Abu Sayyaf from the mainstream Ustaj Abdurajak Janjalani-led Al-Harakatul al-Islamiya (Islamic Movement) also conveniently attracted the attention of the US military forces to come to Mindanao to expand its worldwide campaign on terrorism against militant Islam after New York 9/11. Strangely though, the declared 'terrorists' are always the freedom fighters or defenders of Islam, but never the local or foreign colonizers, like the Filipino or American invaders.

With the emergence of the parrang sabil freedom fighters in Sulu, the Filipino occupation forces can start now to expect the unexpected to happen in any part of war-ravaged Mindanao, bracing for more martyrdom attacks. The formation of the new religious group would surely inspire other Bangsamoro freedom fighters in other areas to organize their own martyrdom spiritual warriors to fight against the Filipino occupation forces. It is believed that the Talipao martyrdom volunteers are composed of civilian gaos-baogbog supporters of Ustaj Khabir Malik, head of Task Force Mount Uhud Brigade of the Moro National Liberation Front and spiritual adviser of MNLF Chairman Prof. Nur Misuari. -From www.mnlfnet.com/BMNews correspondent
