THE JOANGGA

The Joannga, a Moro warship of the late 18th century that abounds then in the wide Samal Sea and the Sugod Iranun now the Moro Gulf. Mainly used against the kastilas and the bisayas, it has three banks of oars under full sail. Upward of 100 feet long, these vessels were provided with large bamboo outriggers, both sides were rowed and paddled by more than 190 men.
